Our Coffee

Home » Our Coffee

At Wandering Goat we embrace the seasonality and distinct regional variety that exists in the coffee world.  We follow coffee wherever it leads, this means that at times not all coffees will be available and we will search various regions within a given country to find the best coffee for that time of year.

Whether you enjoy the subtleties of a single origin bean or the complexities of a delicately crafted blend, we have something for every coffee lover. We also offer several decaf coffees, all decaffeinated using chemical-free water processes. For the homeroaster, you can purchase any of our single origin beans, green and unroasted!

SINGLE ORIGINS

When you love coffee as much as we do you’re willing to go to great lengths to find the very best. There’s a lot of green coffee out there but not all of it is of the highest quality. We carefully cup samples from dozens of countries, regions, co-ops, and farms; most of those coffees don’t hold up, but the ones that do are something special. These coffees represent the best their respective countries and regions have to offer and we are proud to offer them to you. Each of our origin coffees is roasted to highlight their distinct characteristics and offer you the best of the bean. We think you’ll love them as much as we do.

BLENDS

Blending coffee is a time-honored tradition of balance and selection. Roasting individual beans to a precise degree, carefully mixing them with an exact percentage of another carefully roasted bean, and repeating the process until you find the perfect balance is an art. Finding that magical spot where the individual coffees begin to coalesce is an exciting feeling. Each of our blends is carefully crafted to enhance each coffee’s unique characteristics while creating a unity of flavor and aroma that is truly greater than the sum of its parts.

All of our coffees are sustainably grown and Fair Trade.

Choosing to buy sustainably-grown coffees helps to insure that:

  • Every bean that reaches your cup is grown using the safest and most ecologically beneficial farming methods practiced today. Chaffy
  • The health risks posed to those who grow and process your coffees, and the damaging effects on the environment, are lessened by reducing the use of chemical pesticides and fertilizer and preserving the forests in coffee growing regions.
  • The farmers who grow and process your coffees are receiving a fair price for their beans and labor; and the organizational structure of the producing coffee farm or cooperative is one of high integrity.
  • The demand for sustainable coffees increases, which helps to move such programs from the realm of ’specialty’ coffee to one of industry standard.
  • The coffee growing forests that lie along migratory routes are left undisturbed, preventing deforestation and providing shelter for migrating birds.

We feel that no coffee can be the best unless every step in the process, from seed to cup, is free from harmful practices that impact the coffee growers, their community and the earth
